OUR THEORY OF CHANGE

Our Model
TEDI operates on a transformative model that embeds practical skills into Tanzania’s formal education system, ensuring that youth, especially those in underprivileged communities, are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to thrive in the modern economy. By integrating entrepreneurship, employability, financial literacy, and digital skills into education, TEDI creates a pathway for young people to actively participate in local and global economic opportunities.
Our Approach
TEDI’s approach is rooted in collaboration, innovation, and evidence-based solutions. We work closely with educators, schools, local governments, and communities to develop structured programs that align with education policies and industry needs. Through curriculum development, digital literacy initiatives, and youth-centered learning environments, we bridge the gap between traditional education and practical skills, ensuring that students are prepared for real-world challenges.
Our Why
The traditional education system in Tanzania often lacks practical, skill-based learning, leaving many young people without the competencies needed to succeed in today’s fast-changing economy. Limited digital access, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and employability skills hinder youth from reaching their full potential. Without these critical skills, many struggle to find sustainable jobs or create their own economic opportunities. TEDI exists to address these gaps by equipping young people with relevant knowledge and hands-on experience, ensuring they have the confidence, resources, and opportunities to build successful careers and contribute to national development.
Our How
TEDI implements impactful programs through a multi-faceted approach that includes training skilled educators, establishing computer labs, developing and delivering financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and employability skills programs, and engaging communities in education. We focus on equipping youth with practical skills such as critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and adaptability—ensuring they are not only job-ready but also capable of creating their own economic pathways. We leverage partnerships, technology, and data-driven insights to drive systemic change, ensuring that youth not only gain skills but also have access to opportunities for economic empowerment. Through these efforts, TEDI fosters an innovative, skilled, and empowered generation capable of driving sustainable development in Tanzania and beyond.
Theory of Change Statement
Because most Tanzanian students miss out on practical learning—and only 1 in 5 have digital skills or a computer lab—we work in low-income, resource-poor schools to help youth gain real-world, digital, and 21st century skills so that by 2035 they can thrive in the global economy and drive Tanzania’s development.
